Mayor Robert L. Butler knew that success would not and could not happen overnight. He set out to build a successful community one step at a time. His steady hand as Mayor has been the one, constant link in the chain of events leading up to the current growth and the economic development in Marion.

According to the 2010 Census, the City of Marion is home to 17,193 people, which is a stark comparison to the population of 10,000 that the city held for nearly a century before he took over as Mayor.

In the last 10 years, the city’s sales tax revenue has increased by more than $2.5 million and the city’s property values have gone up by more than $100 million.
